Sectoral water footprint dynamics: An input-output structural decomposition analysis for Morocco

نویسندگان

چکیده

Over the last decades, Morocco has been facing increasingly severe water scarcity. To quantify use in Morocco, we refer to footprint (WF) concept, including both direct and indirect use. WF considered covers internal exported virtual (VW). We used input-output structural decomposition analysis (SDA) quantitatively analyze drivers of changes Morocco’s sectoral from 1995 2015. The mechanisms governing are technological, economic system efficiency, effects. growth experienced primarily resulted final demand changes. technological effect acted as an additional increase factor. Nevertheless, efficiency contributed conservation process. Unfortunately, it was not sufficient reverse expansion other driving factors. Agriculture is dominant sector changes, regardless any factor period considered. study provides insight into policy limits helps develop policies towards sustainable resources planning management. That by suggesting that structure adjustment innovation agricultural should be at center strategies addressing

Decomposition of Sectoral Greenhouse Gas Emissions: A Subsystem Input-Output Model for the Republic of Ireland

The analysis of gas emissions by an input-output subsystem approach provides detailed insights into pollution generation in an economy by revealing the channels by which the environmental burdens are caused and transmitted throughout the production system. In this paper we propose a decomposition of the greenhouse gas emissions by using an input-output subsystems model. The empirical applicatio...

Comparative Analysis of Sectoral Multipliers of Input-Output Model and Social Accounting Matrix

The present study is to indicate that the comparison between sectoral production multipliers of an input-output (I/O) model and a social accounting matrix (SAM) framework is almost impossible without taking into account accounting balances and theoretical considerations. Theoretically, the I/O model provides the Leontief’s production function, on the basis of which sectoral output multiplier ca...

Structural Change Decomposition Through Global Sensitivity Analysis of Input-Output Models

Sensitivity analysis has become an important tool to test the robustness of estimated economic models. In this paper we propose the use of simulation-based sensitivity analysis to identify the fundamental structure of the economy. To show the possibilities of this technique, we provide empirical evidence on the path of structural change occurring in the Chicago economy by running simulation in ...

The Added Value of Water Footprint Assessment for National Water Policy: A Case Study for Morocco

A Water Footprint Assessment is carried out for Morocco, mapping the water footprint of different activities at river basin and monthly scale, distinguishing between surface- and groundwater. The paper aims to demonstrate the added value of detailed analysis of the human water footprint within a country and thorough assessment of the virtual water flows leaving and entering a country for formul...

On Reduced Input-Output Dynamic Mode Decomposition

The identification of reduced-order models from high-dimensional data is a challenging task, and even more so if the identified system should not only be suitable for a certain data set, but generally approximate the input-output behavior of the data source. In this work, we consider the input-output dynamic mode decomposition method for system identification. We compare excitation approaches f...
